Doctor Who Eleven Costume for my dog Blitzen by Gothscifigirl Doctor Who Eleven Costume for my dog Blitzen by Gothscifigirl
Made this little costume a couple of days before Halloween. Blitzen's a 16 year old American Eskimo and a good model, so I had to do it. ;) I don't know how to sew, so I did it all by hand, no patterns or machine, with basic stitches. As a result, it's not exactly put together in any proper way, ha. I spent an hour in JoAnn Fabrics picking out the tweed (it was a 40% off suit fabric), the shirt material I ordered from spoonflower.com because it's a replica of 11's actual shirt print that was created by some cosplayers, and the bow tie is made from a burgundy fleece remnant from JoAnn. The fez is a Milk of Magnesia plastic dosing cup covered in the same fleece and attached to his head by elastic. It closes on his back with velcro.

[Update]:
This pic was taken Halloween 2011. Blitzen's 17 years old now and we just found out a month ago that he has small cell lymphoma/leukemia. I took him to the vet because he was sneezing and lethargic, but they always do routine blood tests on older dogs and it was found that way, so it was a complete surprise. He wasn't acting sickly at all (other than the cold symptoms for about 2 days.) He's always been an active dog, never acting a day over 9! He went through 3 weeks of chemo and it was hard on him so we're changing the protocol to something less aggressive. He acted more sickly from the chemo than the illness and with dogs, the point is to prolong their life as a happy, energetic dog, not suffering and miserable. Please keep Blitzen in your thoughts and send him positive health vibes. I know he's old, but I don't want him to suffer. This has been really hard on me since it was such a shock. He was a rescue dog that I adopted when he was 2 years old, so he's been my buddy and protector for 15 years now. Just typing this is making my eyes tear up, so I'll stop there. He's a REALLY smart and amazing dog.

[Update 2]: Blitzen "regenerated" on April 29, 2013 at the age of 19. It was for the best as he couldn't really be a dog anymore with his body giving out. He'll be loved forever. :)

And now the Doctor regenerated into a canine. Just when I thought it couldn't get weirder.

I was searching for a pic of Blitzen the reindeer and found your page. I have a 13 year old Eskie named Sasha. When I adopted him at 10 weeks old, his shelter name was Blitzen! I am so happy that your little guy lived such a long and happy life!

Hahaha I've never seen Dr. Who myself but I have friends who are obsessed with it. I'll get around to watching one of these days I suppose, but this is ADORABLE  Gotta fave it!
